The Perfect Winter Skincare Routine for Dry Skin

by Rochelle January 20, 2017

With the cold winter weather, skin changes and often needs a boost of moisture. That’s why I want to share my perfect winter skincare routine. My skin is on the normal to dry side and I love to have a dewy finish all year long. However, it’s not that easy now that I’m 24 weeks pregnant. At times, my skin and hair do feel a bit drier than normal so certain changes need to happen. Here’s what I’m doing to combat my dryness:

Winter Skincare Routine
Makeup Removal

The magic happens at night when I typically apply the most products. If I wear makeup during the day, my first step is to remove it so I’ve been applying the Yes To Coconut Ultra Hydrating Melting Cleanser to dry skin. Let me tell you that this takes EVERYTHING off even waterproof eye makeup and lipstick. After applying, I use a wet washcloth to wipe away all of the debris.

Cleansing

If I’m not wearing makeup or for a deeper cleanse, I continue with Juice Beauty’s Stem Cellular 2-in-1 Cleanser and then rinse well. The stem cellular collection is listed on their website as a product that is great for a healthy pregnancy. Not to mention it contains a blend of vitamin C and fruit stem cells that are infused into an organic resveratrol grapeseed base. It’s perfect for my anti-aging regimen which is why the majority of my routine includes this line.

Tone & Moisturize

Next, I spritz the Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist to tone and refresh and then smooth the Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum onto my face and neck. As a neck treatment, I apply the Stem Cellular Lifting Neck Cream in upward strokes to help minimize the appearance of fine lines. Lastly from this line, I apply a pea-sized amount of the Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Eye Treatment around the orbital bone of my eyes.

Recently, I discovered Shea Moisture’s amazing skin care line purchased their Raw Shea Butter Anti-Aging Moisturizer. It exceeded my expectations by providing deep hydration at an affordable price. My favorite combo is a cocktail of that cream with 2 drops of Gio Naturals Rosehip Oil.  After smoothing it on, the result is clean, hydrated skin that glows into the daytime.

Butter London Eventful Holiday Set

by Rochelle December 29, 2016

In my attempt to be more ‘girly’, I’m venturing off into the world of nails. There are several nail brands that I’ve used and loved but Butter London is new to my collection.  After learning about this brand, I’m intrigued by the story, quality of ingredients and elegance of the bottles.

According to the Butter London site, it was created by Sasha Muir and Nonie Creme (London’s premier’s fashion manicurist) and was the first brand to create a healthy nail lacquer. Butter London nail products are “8-Free” formulated without:

  • Formaldehyde
  • Formaldehyde Resin
  • DBP
  • Toluene
  • Camphor
  • Ethyl Tosylamide
  • Xylene
  • TPHP

Unlike many other nail brands, Butter London has a unique rectangular shape to its bottles. The look screams glamour with a beautiful chrome finish on the cap. However, with superior quality comes a heftier price tag. À la carte, each bottle of lacquer retails at $18 each for 0.4 fl oz. Luckily, this holiday season I purchased the Eventful gift set with 6 nail lacquers on sale for $22 (original retail price $44). No they’re not full size but each bottle contains 0.2 fl oz, enough to sample several shades.

 The 6-Piece Set Includes:
  • Fashion Size Patent Shine 10X Nail Lacquer – Royal Appointment
  • Fashion Size Patent Shine 10X Nail Lacquer – Mum’s the Word
  • Fashion Size Patent Shine 10X Nail Lacquer – Scrumptious
  • Fashion Size Patent Shine 10X Nail Lacquer – Warm Fuzzies
  • Fashion Size Patent Shine 10X Nail Lacquer – Keep Calm
  • Fashion Size Patent Shine 10X Nail Lacquer – Cool Britannia

The first shade I was attracted to was Scrumptious, a beautiful deep mauve that was perfect for my toes. For my fingers, I chose a softer, dusty pink shade called Mum’s The Word. The colors were the perfect mix of naughty and nice and paired well during my holiday parties.

The verdict is in: I’m obsessed and ready to add to my Butter London collection! Next on my list is the Treatment Collection to prep and prime these puppies.

Cranberry & Copper Holiday Party Makeup

by Rochelle December 1, 2016

The holiday season has offically begun! If you’re not quite sure how to change up your makeup, try this cranberry & copper eyeshadow look that’s sultry and soft.

Products Used In This Tutorial

Too Faced Love Flush Blush-Your Love Is King
Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette
Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly Palette
Too Faced Perfect Eyes-Perfect Black
Too Faced Perfect Lips-Perfect Spice
Laura Mercier Lip Glace-Black Cherry

Get The Look

After applying my complexion and brows I applied a cranberry shade eyeshadow in my crease. Well, actually it’s not an eyeshadow but a blush from Too Faced in the shade Your Love is King. Next, I use a fluffy blending brush to buff out any harsh edges.

Then, using my Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette I apply the shade White Chocolate along my brow bone. Next, I deepen the crease with the shade Cherry Cordial using a pencil brush. I also smudge this shade along the lower lash line. To soften the application I blend in the TF Your Love is King shade in my crease again.

Next, I rim my waterline with a black eyeliner (Too Faced Perfect Eyes-Perfect Black) and apply a shimmery copper eyeshadow (Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly Palette-Peanut Brittle) to my lids. Then, I apply a black liquid liner, black mascara and a pair of falsies.

For my cheeks, I used Your Love is King and on my lips I lined them with Too Faced Perfect Lips in Perfect Spice. To add some shine to my lips, I used a light application of the Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Black Cherry.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this look. Let me know down below in the comments.

Curls & Grunge

by Rochelle September 15, 2016

The 90’s have been huge in 2016 and this look is my ode to this decade. This Forever 21 green and blue plaid racerback dress paired with my Steve Madden Troopa 2.0 Combat Boots gave me a flashback to the grunge era. This look wouldn’t be complete without brown lipstick so I’m wearing a MAC lip pencil in Bittersweet followed with a MAC lipstick in Film Noir.

Lace & Love

by Rochelle August 5, 2016

Even in the blistering heat, I couldn’t pass up wearing this long-sleeved lace dress from Forever 21. Luckily it was short enough to keep me cool and the sleeves were unlined. The slightly mocked turtleneck also helped.

For my hair, this is 3rd day hair picked to the max. This is generally when my hair looks its best. Prior to this look, I completed a wash & go and used Briogeo Curl Charisma Rice Amino & Quinoa Frizz Control Gel.

Into The Blue…

by Rochelle July 8, 2016

When your friends give you hand me downs, you make it work. I needed some color in my life and this short-sleeved A-line dress had just enough flair. I love the white collar that adds school girl innocence in a not so basic royal blue shade.

With the higher neck line on this dress, placing my curls in a half-up half-down style helped balance the look. I brightened up my face with a classic cat-eye and my favorite red lipstick, MAC’s Lady Danger. Lastly, these colorful round sunnies from Sunglass Spot added just a touch of party girl.
